Fire TV setup

Run your BlazeBite menu board on an Amazon Fire TV Stick. Thirteen steps, from batteries in the remote to pairing it with your portal.

The 3D guide asks what came in your boxes and shows only the steps you need. Works on a phone or tablet.

Before you start

  • The TV is already up on a TV wall mount or its stand. BlazeBite does not mount the TV.

What's in the box

Fire TV Stick 4K Plus
A 4K Max works too
Alexa Voice Remote
Plus 2 AAA batteries
Power cable and adapter
For the wall, not the TV's USB port
HDMI extender
If you are using one

Step by step

This list covers the full kit. If something did not come in your boxes, skip its steps.

  1. Find a free HDMI port and an outlet

Find a free HDMI port on the TV and an outlet nearby. Plug in the TV's power cord.

  2. Put the batteries in the remote

Turn the remote over, press on the back cover and slide it down. Put in the 2 AAA batteries from the box and slide the cover back on.

  3. Put the extender and power cable on the stick

Do this on the ground, so you only go up the ladder once. Push the stick into the HDMI extender. Plug the power cable into the side of the stick and into the power adapter.

  4. Plug the extender into the TV

Plug the extender's free end into an HDMI port on the TV and let the stick hang. Note the port's number, like HDMI 1.

Tip: The extender helps when the port is tight or the TV sits flat against a wall.

  5. Plug the adapter into the wall

Plug the power adapter into the wall or a power strip.

Watch out: Not into the TV's USB port. Amazon says to use the power adapter in a wall outlet.

  6. Turn on the TV and pick the input

Turn on the TV. Press Input or Source on the TV's own remote and pick the HDMI port you used.

Tip: The Fire TV's own setup starts on the screen.

  7. Finish the Fire TV setup

The remote pairs on its own. Follow the steps on the screen: pick your language, connect to your venue's Wi-Fi and sign in to your Amazon account.

Tip: Remote not working? Press and hold Home for about 10 seconds.

  8. Get the BlazeBite app

On the Fire TV home screen, go to Find and search for BlazeBite Digital Signage. Select it, then select Get.

Watch out: Can't find the app? The newest Fire TV Stick HD, 4K and 4K Select run Vega OS and may not offer it. Use a 4K Plus or 4K Max.

  9. Open the app

When it finishes, select Open. Not on the home screen? Go to Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, BlazeBite Digital Signage, then Launch.

Tip: Open it once now. After that it can start by itself when the TV turns on.

  10. Get a pairing code from the portal

On a computer, sign in to your BlazeBite portal. Click Digital Signage, then Show me a code under Add a TV.

Tip: Codes expire after 15 minutes. If yours runs out, get a new one.

  11. Type the code on the TV

Press Select, the button in the middle of the ring, to open the keyboard. Use the ring to move and Select to type each letter. Then move to PAIR and press Select.

  12. Pick a layout in the portal

Back in the portal, click Settings next to your new TV. Pick what it shows and the layout, then click Save to TV.

Tip: The TV must be on. Saving sends the change straight to it.

  13. Check all four corners

Look at the menu on the TV. All four corners should show, with nothing cut off at the edges.

  14. Optional

    Edge cut off?

Press Menu (three lines) on the remote to open setup. In Screen fit, raise Edge Safe Zone 1% at a time until every corner shows. Then pick Save & show the menu.

Tip: Still cut off? In the Fire TV's Settings, go to Display & Sounds, Display, Calibrate Display.
