Express POS

Express POS setup

The Express POS stand with a Samsung tablet, Stripe card reader, and the USB-C hub. Sixteen steps, no tools except the hex key in the box.

The 3D guide asks what came in your boxes and shows only the steps you need. Works on a phone or tablet.

What's in the box

Express POS stand
Always included
Samsung tablet
Galaxy Tab with the BlazeBite app
Stripe credit card reader
Small white card reader
USB-C hub (one power cord)
Gray hub and a black 65W charger, if your kit has one

Step by step

This list covers the full kit. If something did not come in your boxes, skip its steps.

  1. Set the stand on the counter

Set the stand on the counter with the black BlazeBite bar facing you.

  2. Slide on the top bracket

Slide the black plastic top bracket onto the top end of the metal stand, flat side on the metal, the two knobs underneath. Leave the knobs loose for now.

Tip: No tools needed. You tighten it once the tablet is in.

  3. Rest the tablet on the ledge

Set the tablet's bottom edge on the black ledge, screen facing you, charging port on your right. Lay it back against the stand.

  4. Lock the top bracket

Slide the black top bracket down over the tablet's top edge. Turn the two black knobs underneath by hand until snug.

Tip: Snug is enough. Do not crank the knobs.

  5. Set the reader in the holder

Lay the card reader in the bottom half of the holder, tap side up, card slot to the front. Set the top frame on it.

Tip: The holder comes in two black halves with a bag of screws.

  6. Put in the 4 screws

Hold it together and flip it over. Push the 4 long screws into the 4 holes and turn each one a few times by hand.

Tip: Use the 4 long screws. Keep the 2 short ones for later.

  7. Tighten in an X

Use the 4 mm hex key, the bigger one. Tighten the screws in order, 1, 2, 3, 4, then go around once more.

Tip: Stop when each screw is tight. Do not force it.

  8. Check it

Turn it back over, tap side up. Gently wiggle the reader. It should not move at all.

Tip: If it moves, go around the 4 screws once more.

  9. Attach it to the stand

Set the holder on the stand at the customer end, card slot facing out. Put the 2 short screws through the stand's front lip into the holder and tighten with the 4 mm key.

Tip: Line up the holes in the lip with the holes in the holder first.

  10. Plug in the charger

Push the power cord into the end of the black charger. Plug the other end into the wall or a power strip near the stand.

Tip: This is the 65W USB-C charger that came with the hub.

  11. Plug the charger into the hub

Set the gray hub on the counter at the right of the stand, ports facing the stand. Plug the charger's USB-C cable into the hub's power port, the one with the lightning bolt next to the hub's own cable.

Tip: Only the lightning bolt port takes power. The other ports are for devices.

  12. Plug the hub into the tablet

Plug the hub's own short cable into the charging port on the tablet's right edge. That one cable charges the tablet and connects the hub.

Tip: A blue light comes on at the end of the hub.

  13. Plug the reader into the hub

Feed the reader's cable through the slot in the stand and plug it into the reader. Plug the big end into a USB-A port on the hub.

Watch out: Use the cable that came in the reader's box. A charge-only cable will charge the reader but will not connect it.

  14. Turn on the tablet

Press and hold the Side button on the tablet's top edge until the screen lights up.

Tip: If the BlazeBite Kitchen app does not open on its own, tap it.

  15. Turn on the reader

Press the power button on the side of the reader. Its lights come on and it beeps twice.

Tip: A light sweeping back and forth means it is ready to pair.

  16. Connect the reader

The reader now connects by cable. In the BlazeBite app, tap the gear for Settings, then Card Reader (M2) Setup. Set Connection to USB, tap the reader under Available Readers, then tap Close.

Tip: Reader not showing up on USB? Swap to the cable from the reader's box. If an update starts, wait for it to finish.
