Troubleshooting
Quick fixes for the problems we see most at the counter. Each one has a short video and the steps in writing.
Receipt prints blank (counter printer)
Load the paper the right way
Counter printer (Custom P3X, next to the terminal)
- Press OPEN and lift the cover.
- Drop the roll in so the paper comes up from underneath, on the side closest to you. If it comes over the top of the roll, it is in backwards.
- Pull a little paper out past the front and close the cover. The printer feeds and cuts the paper by itself.
Is there a shiny side? Only one side of receipt paper prints (the coated side), and it is the outside of the roll. Load the roll this way and that side faces the print head. When you pull the end out over the front, the plain side faces up and the printing side faces down. The Star printer works the same way.
Receipt prints blank (Star printer)
Load the paper the right way
Mobile Ordering printer (Star TSP100, under the tablet)
- With the printer on, push the lever and lift the cover.
- Drop the roll in so the paper comes up from underneath, toward the front. If it comes over the top of the roll, it is in backwards.
- Pull the end straight out, then press down on both sides of the cover to close it. The printer cuts the paper. Throw away the little piece.
Which side faces up? Pulled out over the front, the plain side faces up and the printing side (the outside of the roll) faces down.
No internet on the terminal
Internet cable in the wrong port
BlazeBite TREK terminal, if you use a wired internet cable
- Tilt the screen back and look at the ports underneath. LAN and COM1 look exactly the same, and the internet cable clicks into both.
- The internet cable goes in LAN only: right of the middle, next to the USB ports on your right.
- Most venues use WiFi. If you do, you do not need this cable at all.
Older SILK terminal? Use the port labeled LAN, not the one labeled RJ45 right next to it. They look the same too.
Cash drawer will not open
Drawer cable in the wrong port
BlazeBite TREK terminal with the cash drawer
- Tilt the screen back. The drawer's small phone-style plug clicks into LAN or COM1 and feels seated, but the drawer will not open.
- Move it to Cash Drawer, the small port on the far right. If the plug wiggles side to side, it is in the wrong port.
- On the terminal, tap Test Cash Drawer in Settings. The drawer pops open.
- Still stuck? Plug the drawer cable into DK on the back of the printer. The printer must be on, with paper in and its cover shut.
Older SILK terminal? The drawer cable goes in RJ11, never LAN or RJ45. You can always open the drawer with its key.
